Princeton Tec Torrent/Surge

Can anyone who's used these explain the difference between the two?

They appear to be only cosmetically different. I think both use the same 4s/2p battery configuration, and the same 7.5 watt xenon bulb.

Anyone offer any insight?

Surge is the original model that was discontinued. Torrent is the replacement.

I've purchased several Surge lights, and like them a lot. Convenient size, common batteries, easy to hold, very bright, reasonably-priced, etc. Only downside for me is the battery-holder that's a PITA to change batteries. There were some issues with the Surge bulbs falling out (high temps for prolonged periods melted the solder around the bulb). I do not have any Torrent lights, but presume that Princeton Tec has resolved these problems.
