Problem with E21

I have two Fenix E21 lights, which I love...simple to use, two light levels, and durable. My one gripe is that both lights, almost from day one, have issues where they turn off on their own. If I shake or tap the light, they come back on. I wrapped some paper around the batteries to take up some of the space, thinking that they were loosing contact, but that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I had the same problem with one and sold it. I think adding an o ring at the tailcap to promote solid battery contact with the head might help.

Remove the tail cap and try tightening the collar holding the switch in. (It is reverse threaded.) This happened on mine, was loose and not making good contact, until I got the switch retainer tightened. No problem since.

That's the retaining ring in the switch. That seems to be the only flaw I have found with the E21, that stupid ring tends to come loose if you unscrew the tailcap to replace your batteries. That's why I just stick to unscrewing the head to swap out my batteries.

sounds like a contact issue, no biggie. If you dont like tinkering around with the light, you can send it over for a warranty claim and have them fix it for you.

As mentioned above, it most likely is a tail cap switch issue. Some cheap snap-ring pliers will tighten it right back up.
Also make sure your contacts are free of grease!

Yep, the retaining ring is a reverse thread and comes loose. I tightened mine right up and take off the head to replace the batteries.

LD20 and PD32 have the same issue. I'd assume other Fenix lights with the reverse threaded retaining ring might suffer as well.

Well, the problem is partially solved...it still happens, but less often.
