Hi,
I am a complete flash light noob (and this is my first post), I bought the UltraFire cree Q5 5-modes LEDflash light, it was supplied with a tail and a button back. Both of the supplied when clicked simply cycle though the modes and will on a rare occasion stay on the same mode for a single click. Can anyone tell me were I am going wrong?

Thanks
Tim

Re: Problems

I don't have the light you speak of. So I can't give any advice there. But you might want to change your thread title to "problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch" Or something along that line.

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

It cycles to the next mode, ie from mid to high light intensity, or from high to strobe

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

You have a five mode light. Usually when you click the light fully it comes on either High or last used mode or the next mode.

e.g Light with High - Med - low - Strobe SOS.

Lights with memory, If I click it on it come on high then I half click it goes to Med then I half click it goes to low. Then I
full click to switch off. I wait for 2 to seconds and Full click for on it should come on Low.

Light with Memory(Always comes on high) When I full click for on it come on high always. Some if i'm using it on low then I full click to turn off. When I full click to turn on it should come back on high.

Lights with no memory. These light will come on the next mode. If i switch it off on low and turn it back on it should come on strobe.

Hope this helps

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

Thanks, is there any way I could stop a light with no memory from going to the next mode?

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

If your light is H-M-L-Strobe-SOS and you like it on low when you turn on your light on, is to turn it off on Medium then it will always start on Low.

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

You could always buy another light as these are cheap. Depend how much you have to spend and what you want from your light.

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

If you want I can recommend a light for you, I have lots of cheap lights, I can tell you which is good and which are bad.

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

Ahh, Thanks alot by the way you have been really helpful! A little back round though, I am using this for airsoft so I will be turning it on and off alot :/ Is there any way of converting it to one with memory? I have seen I could get a new button for the back, would that help at all?

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

The modes are in the driver which is near the head. If your light maximum voltage is 4.2v, sometimes if you put in two 16340(which is 8.4v fully charged) batteries in you light you can blow the driver, the light may not work or it may loose all the modes and become 1 mode usually High but I would not advise this.

Re: Problems

as if by magic... ;)

You're far more likely to have people stop by your thread if the title is representative of the topic. That way those with interest or experience are more likely to show an interest and share their experience

Al :)

Re: Problems with Ultrafire Q5 switch

:welcome:

You can get a 1-mode WF 501B.
Or a 1-mode drop in for your current 501B. Make sure the voltage range of the drop in matches the voltage of your battery or batteries. 3-4.2V for 1*18650, 4-8.4V for 2*CR123A/RCR123A.

The multimode units will always switch modes if you hit the button fast enough (turn on less than 5 sec after turn off).

BTW it is not allowed to start 2 different threads on the same topic.

Welcome to CPF, Tim.

You posted 2 threads on this, in separate sections of the forum. I've merged them, as this type of duplication is prohibited by Rule 9.
