Hey,

I just got my first Novatac - the 85P.

I'm having a bit of a torrid time trying to figure out how to programme the thing.

I manage to get one level OK, but then everything goes haywire after that.

I don't know how the hell I'm going to get the strobe, or SOS functions to work.

I was hoping to start with a nice low level, then ramp up until max brightness and finish off with SOS.

Can anyone give me any advice or is it just a question of trial and error until you get the hang of it?

(bear in mind when I first got my HDS it took me about 3 hours before I could get it to hit full bright - this click click press thing is quite an art!)

You have to shut it off after programming each level(you can only save 1 setting at a time) to save that level into its memory.

The easiest way I know is to turn the light on the setting you want to program. Two quick clicks followed quickly by a press(press and hold down the button). The light will start ramping up. When you get to the brightness level you want let go of the button, then click once to shut the light off. That setting is now reprogrammed(saved). Repeat three times for the other three settings.

Thanks Steve!

I've made some progress, but only seem to get 3 levels. How does one get the fourth? Is that where you'd put your strobe or SOS setting?

So far I have:

Bright (somewhere around 80 lms) - Low (around 10 lms) - Emergency strobe.

I would like to get a medium in there somewhere :p

Hi Buffalo,

the first level is obtained by clicking the Novatac on, the second is a double-click away from that and third is via a triple click. The fourth mode requires a click-press to activate; with simple momentary you can enter this mode directly from off (momentary) by click-pressing.

I have mine set to force-on to primary (my medium level)
double-click takes it into secondary (full output)
triple-click is minimum (tertiary)
and the click-press (quaternary?) is set to strobe.

Is that what you are after?

Andrew

Hey,

Yeah, that sounds about right.

OK, I think I have the technique down, now I just have to decide what I want where.

Its almost right, except I need to switch the third (strobe) and fourth (medium) settings around.
