I am gonna be using them in the quark aa and the surefire 6p modded w led. do i NEED protected? I was looking at the ultrafire on ebay, they seemed pretty cheap. what do ya'll reccomend?

And the need or advantages to using them ?
Protection is also advised when multi-cells are used to prevent battery mis-haps and rapid dis-assembly .

I reckon that if one needs to ask that question of a forum then yes, one NEEDS protected batteries.
