This one is 7.4v (8.4v charged) 1450 mah two cells the final version (for now) is going to be 2300mah all charging and protection circuity will be on board the charger will be a wall wart,12vdc.the output could also be 3.7v 4600mah if so desired.These packs are being assembled in china by hypercelland the price beats anything currently available. for flashlights. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When will they be available, and how much?

They sound perfect for my Blaster VI. I currently use (2) 18650, which I charge via Maha C777Plus-II. I just ordered a Pila 150/168 charger which I believe will work with the 18650s, so that will make the charging easier (I can do 2 at once, instead of 1 @ a time). Your setup looks easier to use and work with.

You know, this sounds like something you might want to mention to Wayne over in Elektrolumens. It sounds like it would be a perfect addition/option for his Blaster VI, and maybe he could create a "bundle".

They have a 4/5D and a D size li-ion, I have no idea how you would get them but they may suit your application.

The models are VL 34480 for the 4/5D and VL 34570 for the D

Oh well, they look like the original pipe dream, as they don't seem to be available anywhere, unless someone knows what kind of device/power pack they are in for canibalization.
 
FYI...

I couldn't find the link, but awhile back there was a ebay auction for LiIon rechargeable flashlights. They used a custom made 3.6v pack the size of 2 D cells. The pack is made by www.ipowerus.com

capacity is 1.8Ah. The pack has a jack on the end for plugging in a wall wart to charge it. The charging circuitry is built inside the pack.

The samples I ordered have come in I have three that I would like to get out for real world testing to some one with a MR X these are 2000mah packs but so far I have seen capacities that exceed that by 300 to 500 mah on two of them these can be charged with a wall wart that is 9-12vdc at least 800 ma the protection circuity controls charge and discharge functions however any 8.4 volt li-ion charger will do as well the packs are in a 1 inch pvc pipe that has everything (including a resetable thermal fuse)inside it and batt terminals at the ends and is shrink wrapped. So far on my MR 2D mag with a V3V 5 watt ls I have gotten 1.5 hours + at regulation with 15 to 20 min out of regulation then it shuts down on my power suply with 12vdc at 1.5 amps they take 1.5 hours to fully charge you can see the current drop after about 1/2 hour then it drops to less than .1 amps after the controller drops out.
These samples I will sell at my cost for the 3 Beta testers. The price that these will sell for will be determined somewhat by how many I order after the testing,The cost will be less than $50usd per pack.

interesting. I espcially like the built in charging option, plus it runs on 12v so you could charge in car!!! big /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

These would be great intergrated into some Regulated 5W light with built in waterproof charging jack. Only thing I worry about is too much going to a DD or resistored 5w. Would you almost have to use a MR or DB circuit? Seems they could easily deliver a lot of power.

I am having a simular pack being made for Me now as there is a company close to Me that builds battery packs...Litium Ion, NIMH...etc.
The packs I am having build is for a modified 2-D Mag

how about 1.5 D sized batteries that can dump out 10.2-12 v? Is that possible? 1.5D is about the size of a Mini-HID battery pack =)

Can your prototypes be "rewired" by me to provide 3.7V, 4600mah, or is that a factory/manufacturing option?

Yes you can change the configuration to make it 3.7v 4600 mah,4 cells in series. I will have to inquire about the control circuit for the ability to handle the job it might take longer to charge in addition I had them limit the discharge capicity to 2 amps max to protect the cells. So that would be the max draw with the current circuit.I will send you a PM with mor info. By the way your package went out today.

It turns out that after the shrinkwrap the pack is a little tight fit in some D cell flashlights it fits fine in my older 2D mag with my MR circuit. Also the fact that the cells have corners is a draw back as the corners will get abraided by going in and out of the light. I don't think this layout is going to work but the pack could be split to make two 1150mah packs and it would fit most any 2D light with a 1" pvc water pipe to carry it.
