Just pick up a round puck light from dollar tree with 3 leds in it. It uses three AAA. Still have to work on it more but it uses a resistor and is bright for a $1

I bought one and it did not work. Both wires were loose with solder on them and shiney tabs.
It is a nice light now.

I got this light and bought one from dollartree. But its all gone today. It uses AA sized cells and this may or may not be same ones!!
It has double stick tape (the white cicle on the back cover is it!) So you cant stick it if you ever wants to change the batteries??
Anyways, I'm hoping they carry more of it.

The similar ones I got from Big Lots were Sunbeam brand and they only came in a 3-pack for $9 :ohgeez: They work pretty well, came with 3x3AAA alkaline cells, powerful magnets, double-sided tape and twist-off backs. So you can still change the batteries even after you apply it. The magnet isn't quite powerful enough to hold it vertically on a slick surface, but it will hold it upside down!
I left one on for about 15 hours by accident the other night, it was still giving useful light when I discovered it. The switch on one of mine was flaky, I had to take the window and the tri-reflector off and use it open but it's fine that way.
If you can get them for a dollar that's certainly worth it for their intended purpose.

I bought a handful of 3AA touchlights from a dollar store that are great for modding for LEDs. I have modded two already and have them in strategic places if power should fail.
I agree AAA based touchlights are the YUKK... 1/3 the runtime for the same price..

I bought three of these lights. Came w/adhesive backs. Replaced that with ceramic magnets from hard disks. I have them on doors jambs around the house (my door jambs are metallic). Quite handy for power outages. All you have to do is reach out and touch some light and voila! Paid U$S 10.- for each.

Well, the 3-LED hocky puck lights have finally made it to the Dollar Tree stores in the South Texas area - and they ain't too shabby!

On my sample, the LEDs are kind of blueish, but quite bright. The push-on/push-off switch works smoothly. The peel-off adhesive-backed tape on the back side would be kind of iffy for long-term attachment on a horizontal surface, but it'd be easy to drill several holes in the removable plastic battery compartment cover and secure it with wood screws.

Appearance-wise, they are pretty similar to the Sylvania Dot-It lights.

BOTTOM LINE: Definitely worth a buck apiece. In keeping with the low-budget motif, Dollar Tree also sells 8-packs of carbon-zinc AAA cells and 4-packs of alkaline AAA cells under the "Sunbeam" brand for a buck.

can someone confirm if they can be submerged under water? I have a small project for my wedding, my fiance wants to light up the flower arrangements for the tables at the reception from inside the Cylinder vase.

If seems as if its not water resistant/ proof do you see any other way of moding it to be able to withstand 5+ hour dunk in water?

TIA

Put it in a ziplock bag? Or seal it in a Foodsaver bag, which you could make round.

I guess that would work, but i'm trying to make it a bit nicer. I think a plastic bag at the bottom of a clear vase look cheesy.

we got two 2packs of something similar from costco not long ago. These had light sensors in them so they don't come on until a light source is introduced. I guess they're intended to go in dark closets. We tried them in the pantry where it's always very dark and the hallway outside has no real light available. Complete disaster. lol. First of all, the reason we need the light in there is because there isn't any to go in there from outside the pantry. Therefore, nothing to activate the photocells and turn on the lights. haha. Only thing that turns them on is when you turn one of them on manually, then they all come on. It's quite humorous. I've stood inside the door with it shut and one stays on that turns on the rest and they all stay on. No way to successfully make the system work. Only place they do work is in a room with enough outside light to activate them when you open the door, in which case, there's generally enough light to see what's goin on in there without the help.

Put it in a condom
Honest tie a knot or two better yet 3 and cut of the ring and nobody will notice

Us spys/soldiers did this with the film rolls to prevent them from being ruined by water

But i think it will be lighter than water ,,so it will flow
you will have to stick it to something to make it heavier

So there are 2 versions of these touch lights AAA & AA in Dollar stores, right? Or AA in Dollar stores and AAA in Big Lots?
