If your limiting the size maybe never, if your just limiting the length... My guess is 2 years.
Triple XML are pushing 120k Lux in a select few lights, there heads are pretty large already. Add 40%-60% in length and width of the Fenix TK70 reflector if your adding another led and that may get you close ;)

yeah i saw the new fenix rc 40 is about the same lux as my tn 31 now , but with way more spill..
got me wondering, and thiknking about buying something that does a few more lux than the tn31 but with that nice spill that the rc 40 has...
figured id wait till it was a noticble diff at 200k lux or so........

If you count in modded lights it has already benn done. The most important aspects are de-doming the leds, improving the heatsinking (coppers pcbs like the new Sinkpads) and overdriving them a bit.

A member of the German TLF has modded a BTU Shocker (triple XM-L light, only 120$) like this and got 275k lux. I have perosnally witnessed this light and compared it to powerful lights like the Polarion PH50. The difference is rather small.

Check out these Beamshots:

Polarion PH50
FireFoxes FF3
Olight SR95S UT
BTU Shocker ( Vinz mod. XM-L dedomed)

There are also zoomed-in verisons of the shots.

Yeah Dedoming XML2 in a BTUshocker would be pretty awesome, especially if Vinh tweaked it for you ;)

As for a quad led, the ones coming out with throw like the rc40, will be red Loctited

Yep, what The Driver said. It can be done. A quad XML2 with dedomed emitters on copper stars over driven to about 3.8A with some SMO 20mm reflectors would be in the 200+ range.

You don't really have to dedome the BTU to get some impressive results. I had XM-L2 U2's (dome intact) on copper Sinkpads, and a UCL lens installed in my BTU. Very impressive results. It went from 2880L @ 30sec and 125K bone stock, up to 3670L @ 30sec and 181K after the mods. So it almost reached that 200k mark along with gaining lumens vs loosing them as a dedome would have done.
That upgrade made an already impressive light into a freaking beast.

You could also achieve 200k Lux by using a massive head, smooth reflector and driving the XM-L2's really hard. I am not sure if Fenix or anyone would make such a light because the head would be very large.

Dedoming adds lux, and since this thread is asking for a 200k lux beast I figured I'd mention how I thought I'd go about it ;)

i still stick by my original post for a stock light, we are years away from a quad die 200k lux beast

Yeah, the stock light part I can see it being a good while before it reaches that level. Agreed.

I know it is not a quad but Eagletac will be releasing an MX25L2T (turbo head) with SBT-70 LED which their tech liturature says is over 200,000cd's. I have the non tubo head SST-90 version and it is petite along side my RC40!
