Quark 123 regular s2 edition

Hey guys this will be my fist post so I hope I put it in the right place and didn't miss it while searching. I just purchased the afore mentioned light and it seems to get very warm within the first two to three minutes when in the max mode. This is only my second high quality LED light and maybe I am over reacting but it seems to get hotter than it should. I am using the standard 4sevens lithium cr123 that came with the light. By the way the other light I have is the maratac 9290 which i believe is a rebranded Itp light. Hope I have all the info you guys will need.

On max, your Quark is using a lot of power so it is normal for it get warm after a few minutes. This is a sign that the heat-sinking is working. I suspect your light is fine. If however you are still concerned, try contacting 4Sevens customer service. If you can give more detail about how warm it gets, you will probable get a better response.

Usually it is more of a sign of trouble if it is getting warm/hot on the lower settings.

This is what I thought I new it was cranking out alot of power on max and pretty much assumed it was fine. The only reason I was concerned is that it seems to get much warmer than my maratac light much faster.

It will get warmer faster. It should not be hot to the touch but warm is quite normal.

I have had my Mini 123 S2 for two weeks now and love it. Did a few run time tests on hi using freshly charged NiMH's and yes like most lights that have small bodies and pump high lumens they are going to get warm and maybe even hot at some stage of the full battery run time. This is perfectly normal and I would not be concerned at all. I have, over the years played around with a number of LED's and even running them at the typical 350 mA's will have them running hot to touch (hot to touch meaning the LED itself).

I've never seen cr123a size NiMh cells. Where did you get them? Does the light work well? I would think the voltage would be too low.

Sorry Tre ........... too much on my plate. No NiMH 123's. Did run time tests with new 123's and as stated gets hot like any light but this should pose no issues. The lights must be able to run on high for the full time otherwise the seller could not advertise it. Plus you may note (if I have it right) many sellers state the LED's have a 50,00 hr life time but in fact this is stated as the LED's are running higher than the LED manufacturers states. Again, if I have it right LED life expectancy running at manufacter specs is over 100,000 hrs. Sellers say 50,000 as the lights run over manufacturer specs and thus decrease the life time.
