UPDATE W/ PICS BELOW

OK, I might be stupid here so, please be kind. I just received my Quark 123x2 regular light in the mail along with a 18560 body. The body came wrapped in paper and was missing end caps (the black plastic ones as shown in the pic). Further, both ends are sealed off, one end with a spring sticking out and one and with with a gold plate. When i separate the body (to insert battery) both inside ends have springs. Which end does the head attach to? The end with the protruding spring??? I thought that the body only separated to be able to insert the battery. I didnt know that it would have so many springs. Im lost here. I was under the assumption that the body was just a body like the 123 but separated in the middle to insert the battery. Why does it sealed with what appear to be battery springs all over it. Please help.

One more thing. I also ordered two 18650 batteries and four RCR123's. Do they come with a small charge or should I throw them on my new WF-139 charger and fully charge them?

Thanks

I would assume that the plate side would mate with the tailcap and the spring side would go towards the head. Keep in mind that I don't have an 18650 body myself, but I'm thinking that two springs being threaded in to each other isn't the most ideal situation to be in. ;)

Good luck with the body, and let us know how it works for you! I might have to purchase one myself as I love my Quark, and I LOVE 18650 batteries! :D

If you look closely, one end unscrews to put the battery in.

I didn't get any caps either.

Use the head and the tail from your Q123x2. Remove both ends of the 18650, only leaving the body. Connect the head of the 123x2 to the 18650 body, then proceed with twisting in the tail. If you want it to look cosmetically correct, connect the head to the left of the "Q" in Quark.

If this does not do the trick, post a picture on here with the problem spot and we can further assist you this way.

Screw the body apart. Put the - end of the cell in first. Screw the springy end back on. The springy end is the +, put that toward the head.

Leave the - end ALONE.:)

OK, So the two ends are supposed to be there? OK. I figured that was the setup, I just wasnt sure if they were made to work that way. What about my new batteries? Should I charge them up first??

It won't hurt to charge them. Without a DMM or battery tester, you have no way of knowing their current level of charge.

Thanks. I just read a post about battery safety and it says that Li-ion cells should be charged often as to not over discharge them. So I threw them on my new WF-139 charger. Though, i just read that the WF-139 charger is not that good. So I might have made a bad purchase with that.

the newer wf139 chargers are improved and better. It is a fine charger for 18650s. I have never had a problem with it in any way.

Please excuse the pic quality. I used my iPhone camera.

Is it me or does the springs look dodgy?
But anyway, whatever you do, just make sure the positive side of the battery is pointing towards the Quark's head's direction and you should be fine.

cheers

The springs are a little suspect. But if they break hopefully 4sevens will fix it. I got AW 18659 batteries 2200 mAh. I didn't get the 2600 mAh because I wasn't sure if they new design would work with the quark

I don't think the battery carrier ends come with the body, the pictures in the thread are just some "suggested serving" pictures. :D
