Quark AA O-rings?

Does anyone know what size and material the O rings are on a Quark AA? I have one that has loosened up and starts to ride up on the body when you tighten the tailcap. I have some that seem to match the diameter, but are too chubby to allow clearance.

Don't you think this warrants an email or call to 4Sevens? They should be able to provide you the info, probably sell you some O rings, or maybe if luck would have it send you a replacement O ring?

+1 for calling 4Sevens, I'm curious though as you should have recieved a spare set of o rings if you purchased the light new? have you saved/checked the original packaging if you did buy it new?

I tried to find this out and contacted them. They sent me some new ones but for some reason wouldn't tell me the material they are made of or the specific size.... I was unable to find o rings that fit at the hardware stores I looked. As for the o-ring loosening up.... I lubed my light with silicone grease and that caused my o rings to expand (so I think the o rings are silicone based). I now use Super-lube and have not had any problems, before that I used petroleum jelly and had no problems.

Simetimes manufactuers (not neccessarily light manufacturers) make things such as threads with their own special thread design or outside diameter or use specially made things like orings so that people come back to tem. An old trick but rather effective. It may be you can get an oring from a company that specialises in these and I would think it much easier for a light manufactuer to use stock oring sizes however unless you measure the diameter of the light where the oring sits you wil not be able to call an oring supplier to see if they have that size.

Thanks guys! I e-mailed them, and they said they will send me one, but I'd like to have a few extras around just in case. I found some at the hardware store, but the gauge was too thick to allow the tailcap to fully tighten down, and if I can't get them in the future from 4sevens for whatever reason, using it without the O ring will not be, shall we say, IPX-8! I did get one extra when I bought it, but this is the 2nd one that went bad. the other had a crack/split in it.

Don't forget to lube your o-rings. It helps letting the tailcap and head slide onto them rather than rubbing/stretching them, which could also cause cracks. I have one or two lights on which the tolerance is so low, the o-ring won't stay in place when I screw the tailcap on, unless it is sufficiently lubed.

Petroleum jelly can cause some materials of o-ring to crack, other materials swell when using silicon-based lubes. I've read of a few exceptions like these, but can't remember in which thread.

Hmmmm. I've been e mailing back and forth with 4sevens for about 2 weeks now RE: o rings, and I was under the impression that they mailed them about a week ago. I got an email in response too my inquiry as to where they were, and they said "We didn't send them,.. do you need some"? They were good about replacing the tail cap, which was never right from jump st., but I've had service problems with them before, and probably won't buy from them again. Next time Nitecore D11, or Zebralight!
