Has anyone found the reliability of their G5 v2 was not as expected?
The area in question is when turning the head to select the different output levels.
When I first received the G5 v2, all worked as designed in regards to selecting the modes, as well as output levels or various strobes.
Since I only keep the G5 v2 in the output level mode. When I turn the head to select an output, it’ll either flicker, then nothing, or skip a level or two. However, I’ll keep turning the head till it settles on an output. Sometimes, once I have the light on a output level I want. It’ll turn off, as in no light!
And more then once, when I tighten the head for Max output, the whole light went dead! Played with it, then like magic, turned back on!
I got a sheet of 1500 grit wet sand paper, then ran the area of the body that makes contact with the four pins to insure that it’s clean. Work well, once or twice, then back to it’s old self.
Thanks,
Pops
Btw, this is what kept me from ordering an X7.
I presently have three olights (M30, M3X and an i2) with one in transit (a M21-X). The three I have all work flawlessly and why I went with the M21-X. Oh, an the coating on the olight's are great. The litttle I used the G5 and it looks like I had it for years. It's not a watch, so the wear is fine I guess, but just an observation!
