Question about CRV3\'s

When this 3 volt battery is broken down into two cells they are the same size as AA's. Is each cell still 3 volts? Thanks.

Yes, they are AA size.

That depends on what brand you get and where it was made. From what I understand most batteries from Japan are two 3V AA size cells in parallel.

Thanks JS, I'm probably the only flashaholic in the world with no voltmeter, ha! I stuck a CRV3 cell in one of my MadMax single AA mods, and it does not seem to be as bright as it is with a lithium AA?

If they are using *true* 1.5V cells it may be possible that a different Lithium chemistry is used. So-called "1.5V Li AA" cells actually measure 1.7V brand new, and if the cells you pulled out of your CRV3 are only 1.5V new then there would be a noticeable difference in the output of your MM.

OTOH, if they are 3V cells...then you've got a problem!

The packs can be had both series (2x 1.5V) and parallel (2x 3V). Energizers made in Japan are 2X 3V. The ones made in USA are 2X 1.5V. The Duracell packs seem to all be 2X 3V. One Rat Shack pack I split (made in Japan) was 2X 3V. YMMV /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

btw, the 3V cells should be 1500mAH given the packs spec's, which beats 1300 for a 123.

JS, this was an Energizer E2, made in USA the package says.. Larry, that would explain why my X1 MM+ was no brighter than with an alkaline, thanks. I wanted 3 volt. Unfortunately I spent $18 on a two pack of these turds! Ack!!
