From the reading I have tried to do here it seems that using the charger in the above link (CH-V6988), that for my PowerEx 2700 cells this might not be so good for them. Yes/No??
I recently bought the C9000 after reading about charges here and I am liking it a lot! The CH-V6988 charges with a current of 250ma/h which I think is not the best rate overall. If I am digesting what I read here correctly it is best between .5C & 1C. With the C9000 I have chose to go with middle ground and charge at .75C. I'm I getting it so far?

Thanks for any advice you may have for me.

Hello Ken,

Your CH-V6988 charger will supply around a 0.1C charge rate for your 2700 mAh cells. At that rate, it takes about 16 hours for a full charge. The timer on that charger is set at 12 hours, so if the cells start out fully discharged, you won't get a full charge with that charger, unless you start the charge over again after the cells have been charging for about 4 hours.

That low a charge rate will not immediately damage the cells, but it still can do some damage over time. The -dV termination is most likely not effective at this low a charge rate. This means that you will most likely overcharge cells that are only partially discharged.

The rates you indicate and the C-9000 charger are a much better choice.

Thanks Tom for the help

Thanks Tom for your reply! I did not know that the charger had a 12 hour timer and that explains why I wasn't getting a full charge all the time. I think I am understanding the battery care much more now. The amount of knowledge here is amazing and a great place to learn. And after reading for the last few weeks through all the archives and seeing how you and others are not only knowledgeable on the subject but have lots of personal experience testing the batteries and chargers to go along with the manuals. The C9000 was overwhelming at first with all this information flashing but thanks to CPF I am having fun learning about batteries! Love this site and appreciate you taking the time to help me out!!
cheers!
Ken
