Question about Pila\'s?

Will Pila's work in an E2 body?

Not the E2e. Just the standard old E2 body.

If they do: What Pila would I need to purchase?

Re: Question about Pila\'s?

It will fit, but it really will not do a good job on running that lamp.

Re: Question about Pila\'s?

Jon: I want to gut the E2. Throw in a Lux3. That should make the Pila better, yes?

That would be the 168s, that would be good with pila. what circuit are you going to use

Re: Question about Pila\'s?

Pila's will direct drive a Lux III quite nicely. Your problem is getting the heat out from the head which is designed for an incandescent. The reflector may also not be optimum for an LED. You have two other options. KL1 mod or KL4 Lux transplant. The latter also presents itself with other considerations. If you want to go strictly with Pilas, the KL4 transplant is probably the easiest. If you want to run off 2x123, you need to get a buck converter (downboy) and replace the stock KL4 converter (much more work). A KL1 leaves you with stock current drive or you can boost up to an amp though 700mA would be what I recommend. You are limited in optics option of either the stock NX-05 or low profile Fraens. There are several CPF'ers here that can do these mods (yours truly included) for a fee, or I would highly recommend you try it yourself if you're so inclined. It's something you can be proud to say you did yourself /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
