Question about UV AAA

I just bought the UV model from Peter. It's fun!Does anyone know why the UV version is only guaranteed for one year? Is it because the LED is overdriven and thus the life is greatly reduced from the standard 100,000 hours?

The UV LED actually self destructs.

UV Light damages the epoxy envelope of the LED itself.
