Ok folks, it looks like it's JUST about time to pull the trigger on a new lathe, but I have a SERIOUS issue - a VERY narrow basement staircase
I know the tray on an HLVH is 28" wide, and of course, my staircase is 27" (unless I invert the base, then I have 28.5")
The real question is - IF you pull the lathe of an HLVH off the base, does the tray come off the rest of the stand? If so, I'm gold, otherwise I have to think of a different lathe
