I am going to start on a custom high power led light and I need to make a battery pack for it. I have never put batteries in paralell but I heard that you can do it. I need 12.6v but I need three of these packs at 12.6v, so can i put 3 batteries in series and then paralell all three of them to one switch? As long as I check each battery after charge and make sure the cells are pretty even is this safe?

Yes it's safe but you will also want to check the cells after they are discharged to make sure that one cell doesn't start to deviate from the rest of the cells in the pack. You need to keep all the cells balanced for the longest life of the pack and safest operation.

Make sure that all the cells in your pack are the same and test them all before you start to build your series-parallel pack.
Buy 2 or 3 extra cells also so that you can weed out the weakest ones before you put the pack together.
