Finally, two weeks after I took them, and between computer viruses and being busier at work lately, here are the beam comparison shots of the PM6 R2H with Downboy 400 and several other well known lights. The PM6 is the one from Dat2zip's passaround here. All lights in this comparison were using brand new SF 123 batteries, except for the Mini MM+, which had brand new Kirkland Signature (Costco) batteries. Drum roll please…

The contenders were (from left to right):

KL3 on a UBH II at 9v
MM+ (at full throttle) with Q3L in Pewter MiniMag
PM6 R2H with Downboy 400
SureFire L4
Wayne Y’s personal McLux (not sure what is in it)

All photos were taken with a Canon Powershot S300 Digital ELPH, manual mode, no flash, with auto-focus. I used the auto white balance on the camera, as it seemed to render the colors pretty well this time (but hasn’t in the past, maybe because 5W LS’s focused by a mag reflector are just too much for it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ).

McLux vs. PM6 @ 1M (~ 40”):

Look how the corona of the PM6 McModule is visible near the central upper and lower edges of the McLux hotspot. This PM6 has some really useful sidespill!!!

The real violet color of my KL3 threw the camera off a bit. The PM6 is much whiter than this!

L4 vs. PM6 @ 1M (~ 40”):

This shot does not do the PM6 justice. The hotspot really is brighter than the L4’s! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/huh.gif NO kidding!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

This shot from farther away shows just how much brighter the PM6’s hotspot is compared to the L4!!!

This is a really good shot of just how white these two lights really are. Beautiful… /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Good group shot. I wish my KL3 wasn’t quite so purple… /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

KL3, McLux, MM+, and PM6 @ 2M (~ 79”):
fb2c9e20.jpg

This shot really shows how tight the PM6’s hotspot is compared to all the rest. Also shows the colors real well!

This is one of the best views of how white the R2H 1W LS is in the PM6 McModule is compared to all the other lights in this comparison. Also shows just how tight the awesome hotspot stays, and how the spill light is so useful! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

For kicks, and to show how well this McModule really works, I also did a couple of shots against an LPS Tactical SRTH on my UBH II at 9v, 105 Lumens. You’ll be impressed…

SRTH vs. PM6 @ 2M (~ 79”):
fb2c9e01.jpg

The PM6 looks pretty blue here. Trust me, it’s not! See the LLS picture of the PM6 vs. the L4 for the real color! The shots against the SRTH are the only ones here that the camera couldn’t get the colors right on. I think it is a combination of the real big difference in color between the LED and incand. lights (the PM6 is white, white, white!) and also the amount of light these two lights put out in combination just kills the camera! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinser2.gif

And for fun, and since I don’t know where else to post it,
SRTH vs. L4 @ 2M (~ 79”):

The L4 here looks pretty blue, but rest assured it is as white as in the shot with the PM6! Same problem as the SRTH vs. PM6 shot above.

Hope everyone enjoys these!!! Many, many thanks go to Wayne Y. for the PM6 passaround!!! He provided BOTH the PM6 and the McLux I used here. Without him I couldn’t have done this comparison. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif :applause:

Also, thanks go out to all of the SkunkLights team for the design of the McModule and the McLux; without them neither of these lights would even exists! Woohoo!

Cheers, -JC.

If you want to see the 800x600 jpegs, open the picture in another window and add .orig.jpg to the end of the address for the pic. I'll try and put links to each when I get a chance.

Very nice set of comparison beamshots! Must have take you some time!

Thanks for the beamshots. Very nice. I cringe looking at the McLux. It was my first McLux I put together and that was way back in December. Now I want to rip out all my 1W mods and replace them with brighter and whiter ones. Maybe, I'll wait for the S or T bins first.

Great beamshots. :0 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

These are going in the database for sure. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Wayne,

S and T bins!!!

Come on! I am dying to get an "R" binned LS! You are going to wait for and S or T bin!

Yes, those brass buttons snap in to the phone swivel beltclips (like the nokia phones). All necessary parts are available at the Sandwich Shoppe.

Sandwich shoppe?
Is that a web dealer, or is this a home made clip?

Ah, yes young grasshopper, you have much to learn... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Don't worry though, it will all come with time. Hang on to your wallet!!!

The Sandwich Shoppe is one of the dealer/manufacturers here. Wayne Y. (Dat2zip) makes several different varieties of Luxeon drop-in pills for the mag/brinkmann AA flashlights. The clips are somewhat "homemade" by one of the other well-know members here (McGizmo).
