I'm into night vision gear, and would like a small IR light for close-up use.
I'm thinking of replacing the 5mm LED in one of my County Comm keychain LED lights (the $1 ones, U.S. quarter size), with a 5mm IR LED from Radio Shack ($1.79). The RS LED is spec'd at 1.2v, and the keychain lights use one (or two) 3v lithium coin cells (LED voltage spec unknown).
Will this create a problem because of the voltage spec differences?
Anyone done this before?
