It's been a while since i visited CPF and noticed that luxeon just released a 90 and 100 lumen @ 350mA luxeon rebel which gave me some ideas.
but since i dont know much about them i thought id ask.

What kind of heatsinking does a luxeon rebel require if driven @ 350mA ? is it safe to use like 20 of them next to each other without heatsink @ 350mA or they will still require the usual amount of heatsinking ?

What about @ 700mA ?

Thanks

You're asking a question that nobody knows the answer to yet. I can say that Lumileds recommends 36 sq.in. to run the Rebel at spec.

I built an 8-Rebel array and ran it at .75W/emitter a few days ago for a few seconds and determined that it runs too hot to use without heatsinking.

Since Rebel's efficiency is comparable to Cree's, the heat sinking requirement should be similar, although I heard that Rebel is pretty robust.
