rechargeable 123 question

a local electronics supplier has rechargeable 123s
they are listed at 600mah 3.6v
my question is will 2 of these blow a P60 or an L4 or a longbow Micra
 
2 of these will be very bright with your P60 but very short so /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif use a P90 instead and read through the board for the ins and outs of these LiIon 123 cells - plenty of good info to be found. For the L4 better use a higher cap 17670 or PILA 186S - same here - use the search function for good info - also the Micra wil get mentioned with the R123s - that combo seems to work but I can´t personally comment as I don´t own a Longbow.

Those are Bare Cells. They will blow a P60 in a heartbeat. They might be a little hot for the other two but will work.

Echo, no kidding here - all the mentioned threads and info are courtesy of Jon who is bringing those to the market and CPF so you really might consider buying them there and feel in safe hands and probably buy a safer product too, bare Li-Ions CAN be pretty dangerous ......

As the cells I know sold in Australia are the same brand as mine (bought in Germany) I would not use them for any higher current applications. The Surefire bulbs I have all exceed 10A of inrush current easily and I doubt if it would do very good for these cells.
How much did you pay for them?
 
Steelwolf - the supplier is jaycar electronics - i dont have the model number - it is probably on their website

Pelu - they were about $20 each - plus another $40 for the special charger - i havent bought any yet - just wondering what you guys thought of them

im not sure that they are even Lions - they might just be 2X little 1/4AAs or something - wouldnt a Lion have a higher capacity ?

Looks good. No indication of protection circuits. Hopefully there is one. They have about half the capacity of a primary CR123, 1/3 the capacity of a Pila 168. Since the 168 is the size of 2 CR123 cells, but still only pumps 3.7V, I would say 600mAh for a 123-sized cell is reasonable. Can't wait to try them out.

According to their website, this is a new product, coming soon. I doubt if anyone in Oz has tried them out yet. I tried to get hold of a couple of their house brand (unbranded) 1W LEDs which labeled "new product" but not "coming soon", but the guy said they still hadn't got them yet. I suspect these cells will also take quite a while before they reach this side of our continent.

At the moment, for rechargeable CR123, I'm using the SB2477, which is 3 1/3-AA NiCd cells. I broke them apart so that I can charge them individually and use 2 together to make a 123-sized battery. They are only about 110mAh, so 600mAh would be a huge improvement. Also, that's at least twice the capacity of the NiMH solutions that most people are using at the moment.
 
I had these Australian website somewhere, but cannnot find it at the moment.
These cells (I saw there) are definitively Li-Ion and do not have any protecting circuit, maybe a NTC.
And they have the same issue as others as they are not fully charged. Please look for the regarding threads.

cell should be SB17340.
