Hello Again:

I am wondering if a rechargeable screw top rectangular lantern battery exist? I believe this is known as a 918 battery. Also are there any adapters available where you could use D cells that could replace this battery. I see they available for the spring top 908 batteries but have never seen one for the 918. Thanks for any info you may have.

Regards,

Dave

I am nostalgic for those old style 6 volt sealed beam lanterns that took these batteries. Some of them had a flasher on the tail end. I had one as a kid and was always bugging my dad to buy a new battery. These 918's have always been expensive relatively speaking. Well I purchased a couple of new old stock lanterns off ebay and today purchased 4 Duracell 918's on clearence for 10 bucks. It appears not many devices use these style of batteries any longer and Home Hardware in Canada is clearing them out. There may be an opportunity for those that enjoy these lights to stock up on the batteries.

Still wondering if any adapter exists that would aloow you to use a gel cell.

Thanks for your indulgence.

Regards,

Dave
