Hello,

This is my first post on candelpower forums. I recently purchased a Surefire G2 Nitrolon for my duty belt and was wondering if anyone could help me? I would like to save some money by switching to cr123 rechargeables. Every website that I have been to in reference to rechargeable cr123's they have advised not to use with flashlights because they will burn out the lamp. Any knowledge on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I came across this website by accident and have totally been addicted since. Thanks in advance.

hey there brother, being on the thin blue line myself, I am glad to respond. This forum is awesome full of very helpful people.

i changed my G2 setup, to a rechargeable setup. I bought a 3.7v incan lamp assembly, and use a AW 17670 rechargeable battery.

Look for a user "AW" - he sells the complete setup. I am really happy with the product and his customer service.
I changed my 6P to rechargeable LED setup. I bought a cheapo dropin from DealExtreme and once again, 2 x 3.7v rcr123's from AW to run it. Awesome setup.

sent you a PM.

Ditto - the Surefire 6V lamp will blow on 2xRCR123A, which can be 8.4V right off the charger. With a replacement lamp assembly (usually labeled 9V, but sometimes 7.2V), they run just fine. Some lights will take a rechargeable '17670' lithium ion, which is the same size a 2 CR123A and 3.7 V. You will need a 3.7V incandescent lamp, or an LED assembly compatible with 3.7 V.

+1 on the 3.7 lamp with a single Li-Ion battery.

I've been throught a few rechargable options on my 6P. From the surefire setup with a few batteries and chargers to my current set up with Li-ion. The 6p is basically the same light in metal. I currently use a 9 volt Lumens Factory lamp with 2 17500 LiIon batteries. Great output.

I also have the 3.7 volt LiIon bulb from Lumens Factory with a single 17670 LiIon battery as a back-up if/when the other batteries die. It's a drop in fit. It essentially has the same output as your light now. The bulbs are inexpensive and the battery I don't think cost much over $10.00 which I would consider good. It should last a few years. You will need a specific charger for the LiIon though. I bought a Triton which will charge just about anything but is $$$ and not worth it if you only have this battery to charge.

Sorry if this is confusing or I'm rambling on. It's 5 AM with 2 hours left in my shift. Getting tired and our predispatch beeps just went off.

Good luck.
