recomend a flooder please!

like the title says, I'm looking for a flashlight with good mix of throw and flood, but emphasis on flood. Price at about or below 150$.
decent quality, longevity, the usual.
Preferably running on CR123's, two of them is fine, or even preferred
I want to mount it on my bike when i hit the trail in the evening/nightime.
I had my eye on the Deree DBS V3 MC-E, because of the upgradeability .
Flashlights on good sales/discounts that fill the criteria preferred, but I dont want to compromise quality for price(at or below 150)
So in surmise, Im looking for a carry-able, bike mountable, reliable LED that puts out a Godly amount of light in a flood with decent throw, that is precious enough to make me a happy owner.
I'm a noob who went the cheap DX was that is looking for the soothing of a quality light! I appreciate it:D
 
You have a lot of options at that range. Do you know how much runtime you'd like? If size is an issue either the the P7 or MC-E can be run in series of a single AW Li-mn 16340 (just not for a very long). Plus with flood lights a large reflector isn't really nessicary, some don't use a reflector at all. Like McGizmo's mule. In fact my recomendation would be to go to the sandwich shoppe and get a mule head 1*16340 powerpack and a McClicky tailcap (unless a McClicky pack shows up on B/S/T.) and then make or have a P7 direct drive light engine made for you. (Try the custom and modded light section, or maybe even bst) This setup could be run on a single li-mn 16340, although again not for very long. That would be my ideal setup, compact, upgradeable, and very bright.:naughty:

But remeber it's just one perspective. Others may have ideas better suited to your needs.
 
What type of flood?

I'm guessing medium sized hotspot with a smooth hotspot to spill transition?

Many here use Fenix lights as their bike light, but I'm not sure if they fit the amount of output you want.
 
I would recommend a Fenix LD20 with two eneloops powering it.
Nice and bright, very good sidespill and a bright hotspot.

A very good bike light in my opinion because you can buy AA's in a gas station if your strapped.
I carry an extra pair of freshly charged eneloops in my pocket for a total runtime of about 2 hrs on turbo.
 
this is not a exclusively bike light. a flashlight that floods the area, that can be mounted. like the pic of the V3 MC-E, if theres something less expensive that does it, would be great
 
The INOVA T1(2008) has a floody beam with modest throw.It is about 100 lumens with with around 4 hours runtime.The INOVA T1 typically has a warm tint that some(myself included) have found to be better for outdoor use.I don't know about a bike mount but the T1 is very good quality for the $50 price tag.
 
i was thinking of a "superflooder", if you will, by the lumens quoted here. ive just bought 7 DX flashlights ranging in the 230-900 lumen range, but now ive decided im going to give them as gifts and get myself one or 2 really bright quality flashlight. im thinking hundreds of lumens for the flooder. something that makes me and others say wow. thats kinda the direction i was going for.
 
I would hold out and wait for the CL1H V4 MC-E to arrive and see how it performs and compares to the DBS V3 MC-E. I imagine it will be much more floody than the DBS.

$99 for the CL1H V4 MC-E. Listed on Dereelight's site already and should be in FlashCrazy's hand in about a week if you're in the US.
 
V3 is just the model #. If you use the MC-E module with the V3, you should get the same output that you get with the MC-E with the V4 model.
 
I'm with ZMZ67, the 2008 INOVA T1. Great flood,4 hour run time,and is just a great heavy duty light. It's one of my favorite lights.

It makes a huge difference. This is just a way to make a light you already have a flood machine. I hope you find the light you are after! :thumbsup:

I just went with an F Malkoff variant for my flood needs, it was affordable and in a familiar package. :shrug:

where can i find this flashlight?
 
This thread confuses me a bit, because I never think of the DBS as any type of Flood Machine. Even with an MC-E, which will have a wider beam than the Q5/R2 It's not designed for flood. Putting the MC-E in the CL1H will be more flood but there are several issues with that.

The M60F drop-in... heavenly flood. A NT has good flood, or bright spill. Putting a Diffuser such as the F04/FM34/homemade on a light makes a nice flood.

So maybe you just want a bright spill and not really a flood machine? How much distance do you need from it?

That's what I though too when I saw the DBS mentioned. It's nowhere close to a good flood light(beam pattern wise) even with the MC-E. The reflector is too wide and deep for it to be a floody light.
