Hello Everyone,

We are in the market for a high performance and quality power source system. What I am looking for is a battery system
for my newly purchased Eagletac G25C2 and Dereelight DBS V3. What we need is a nice middle point between longevity
and sufficient current. What we were considering is the:

* Panasonic NCR18650B Protected
* Eagletac RCR123A
* XTAR XP4

Your insight and expertise is greatly appreciated!

I use AW IMR and ICR 16340/RCR123s, respectively, in my Sunwayman V11R and ShiningBeam I-mini.

The IMR chemistry is a tad safer and can deliver a bit more juice for the more demanding V11R. For the I-mini, the regular protected AWs work well.

My EagleTac NCR18650A 3100s have been good so far, but most any brand with the Pannies will be good, as long as they fit your lights.

I can't speak to the Xtar multi-chemistry charger, but I've used their WP2 II for Li-Ions to great effect, for a good year and a half. The Sytemax i2 and i4 might be reasonable options.

According to the comparotor, the Efest IMR 16340 seems to outperform the AW at the 3A level (http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/CommonSmallcomparator.php) "I hope I am not breaking forum rules?". Both of which outperfrom our original choice of Eagletac. Any idea how IMR holds up to extreme fluctuations in the temperature? -40* - +30*?

Are you going to run 2xRCR123 ICR/IMR cells in those two lights, or a single 18650?

IMR chemistries handle higher current better than the ICR cobalt chemistries.

I don't know much about temp conditions, nor do I worry about them, as I'm in Miami and it's 80*F pretty much all year long, lol.

Generally, you need to be careful running multiple Li-Ion cells in series in lights that take them and those cells need to be matched pretty well, to avoid problems.

You can buy the AW IMR 18650 cells, if the lights draw a lot of current, at the expense of capacity.

I'm not sold on the Efest brand and AW has a pretty stellar track record here for quality products and great customer service.

As far as I'm aware linking is fine as long as you're not advertising or linking directly to dealer pages. I've been linking to HKJ's and selfbuilt's websites a lot and have not gotten in trouble for it yet...

And then there is the issue with multi cell 123As. I just noticed that both your lights use single 123A. This seems to be
much safer than multi 123As if not used properly.....

After reading a few forums, it seems that even with the safe use of these batteries, we should still stay clear of made in
china's....

I think I just averted a catastrophe.

Just order protected 18650 ICRs, or unprotected IMR 18650s and be done with it.

It's really nothing to lose sleep over.

As far as chargers go, 250mA for my 16340s isn't all that critical. They're disposable items and whether I get 300 cycles over 4 years, or 275, isn't really a concern, as it'll be time to replace them before then, most probably.

Get yourself a good NiMH charger and get yourself a good Li-Ion charger is my suggestion and what I ended up doing.
