I'm looking for a good quality holster for lights the size of an Aleph-3 or a Dereelight DBS.

Criteria:-

1) Must close all around with no large gaps leaving head unprotected.
2) Must be soft inside and definitely not have any metallic stud showing.
3) Velcro closure without metal studs.
4) Can have belt loop but must not have hard metal clip.

Looks simple, but meeting all the above criteria makes it a lot harder.
Any ideas or suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks, had a look but can't find what I'm looking for there.

Any more specific recommendations with a link please?

Exact specs I've been looking for for a holster for my G5. No luck so far.

What do you mean by "not have any metallic stud showing" - I use 2, 3, and 4 CR123 cell sized RipOffs holsters that do allow some metal to show, but not very much. The belt clips are great (I use the metal clip, and you can also get the kind that threads onto your belt for even more secure retention.) Price is very affordable as well.

For under $10 you can get the Nite-Ize holster at Lowes and some other hardware stores. It relies on stretchy fabric to hold onto the light, and is less secure than the rip-offs velcro closure.

By "metallic stud" I mean the metal nipple that clips into the female part of a metallic clip that is sometimes used to fasten the flap over the head of the light. I don't want that stud on the inside of the holster because it will scratch the light. (and some of my lights are very expensive custom lights)

This is why I specified velcro closure only.

I am also not looking for a metal belt clip on the back of the light, because I just want to use the holster to protect the light transported in a back pack (for example). The belt clip adds unnecessary bulk for my requirements. :)

Interesting thread !

For what it's worth . . . .

My Olight M20 Warrior Premium R2,

withOUT cigar ring or stainless-steel strike bezel,

fits PERFECTLY in my Rip-Offs # 153 holster. (Bezel Up)

I prefer the Belt Loop (BL-) models, but they also offer a metal clip (CO-).

I'd like to find a Rip-Offs model to fit Quark AAx2 Turbo flashlight.

Any ideas ?

:thanks:

Another thumbs up for Ripoffs Holsters. Here is a listing of the available sizes. In your case you would want a BL (belt loop) model instead of the CO (clip on).

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Keep them coming please.

The Maxpedition pouches look good but the 5" isn't long enough for a DBS or Aleph3 and the Universal pouch is open at one end (I'd prefer it to surround the light). The cocoon pouches look the right size but I'd be worried that the zipper could scratch the lights.

Not at home right now, but my Wolf-Eyes doesn't stick out too much, so I don't think the DBS will stick out much if at all...unless you have the extender. But when I go home I'll give it a fit to see how much it sticks out.

It seems that "easilyled" is looking for something to protect a light from scratches during pocket carry, which is different than I thought.

Not so much pocket carry Max_Power, because the Aleph3 with 18650 body wouldn't fit in my pocket.
Rather something to protect the light from scratches when its rattling around in my backpack or in the car.
For that reason I don't need a belt-loop or belt-clip. I just want the light to be pretty much surrounded by soft material, because Ti scratches easily.
Anyway, I might have found someone to do me a nice custom leather holster. :)
I'm still interested in non-custom alternatives though as I have quite a few lights of this size.

If scratch protection while being carried inside a pack is what you require, you can keep the flashlight inside a thick cotton sock or a section of bicycle inner tube.

True, but I'd quite like it to look smart at the same time, if possible. :)
