Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to the flashlight world and was hoping you could point me in the right direction for my next light. I currently have a fenix tk11 r2 and love it. Here is what i'm looking for:
-relatively small size (can be bigger than the tk11, but wouldn't want to go much bigger than the tk45)
-as bright as possible
-bang for the buck (give me as many lumens as possible for under $160)
-no preference on battery type

Thanks guys! :)

BTW, i've been looking at the tk45 and it seems to fit the bill, but there are probably better options you guys may know of. Thanks!

Not really. For the money the TK45 is a fairly unbeatable package in the AA format and there aren't any quality lights cheaper for the lumen output.

TK45 is not a thrower though. It's for lighting up a lot of ground in front of you, not far away. Throw isn't everything, 90% of the time you want to see what's between you and the next 30 metres.

Thanks for the info, I am beginning to think I should find a better "thrower."

Any suggestions?

IMO you have a good thrower already with your Fenix TK11 (I have one also).

Why not branch out into one with more floody beam and warmer tint? I'm thinking a Malkoff MD2 with a M61W module would be an outstanding next purchase! You can get one with 2 level switch if you want. It's a twisty rather than clicky though, so don't know if you have a strong preference there?

there are some ready to go lights on malkoffdevices.com or uniquetitanium.com.

other than Malkoff, a nice change of pace from your Fenix would be an HDS/Ra Clicky, and you can pretty much have them build it to best suit your intended usage!

GL!

I second the Malkoff. I have the MD2 camo with the Hi/Lo ring and a Hound Dog with an MD4 body. My two favorite lights.
