I am new to posting here, so first up "hello everyone" :)

Excited about the future of lighting to say the least and I've caught the LED bug well and truly!

I was wondering if anyone knows whether there are LED alternatives to the small 12v 20W Halogens that are used in desk lamps like these:

I have a couple such lamps that I retired because they were so bulb hungry. I'd love to make use of them once more if there are some LED bulb alternatives out there to consider.

Thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction with an LED bulb recommendation.

I think the base in that is G4. There is no good product made for this. I think you have to do it yourself. Bare emitter to the heatsink, and you will get suitable beam to desklamp. There is little bit job for you, because i think you have to destroy the base in the lamp, and you also have to make some holes in the top of the lamp, so the heat will come out from the led.

There is something with G4 on market. But they are with "lowcurrent" leds, so you will get only few lumens with those.

Hmm ok. I dont have the skills to mod the light myself (yet). I'll keep looking around.
