Red LED XPG compatible

Hi Guys,

I'm going to make a red triple d26 dropin for a bike taillight, and my triple boards are XPG. Can anyone recommend a red XPG compatible led and a source? I'll be running a 1500ma 7135 board, so 500ma per led.

You can use either XP-E oder XP-E2 LEDs! All XP LEDs are compatible to each other.

Yeah that's what I'm looking for. It looks like I'll get around 200lm from 3 xpe at 1500ma, and the drive level is well within specs. I know red lumens do not really correlate with white lumens, but does anyone know how 200 floody red lumens will look? For example, I'm getting around 500 white lumens out the front and I want similar visibility from my red.

EDIT - Oops, the Vf of the red XPE is around 2, so I'm going to have to rethink my driver as well.

You want your tail LIGHT to be seen by others, you don't care if you illuminate anything with it. That takes a LOT less lumens.

The 7135 will work fine with a 2V LED. You might want to be careful of overheating it, as that excess voltage will get burned off as heat in the regulator. What's the input voltage?

I'm thinking a mule instead of optic for wide angle, and the triple is mostly to get a bigger footprint for visibility. I'm planning to use 18650, so that is my concern, that I'll be burning off a lot of voltage. I'll have a good size copper heat sink, but still the efficiency will suffer. I suppose I could use 2xNIMH in a Javelin host or something if that voltage will run the blinky in the driver board. My current taillight is a 12v truck led taillight, so I like it to be bright!
