Some custom lights modded by me ;-)
SOLD $135 $145 $150 Modded Direct Drive Maelstrom S12. I did direct drive on the S12 before but the results was never satisfying as I could not get to the inside of the S12 guts. No matter what I did I just could could not remove the head of the flashlight from the body. Therefore, there are resistant here and there which cause the current draw to be no higher than 4.8A at start up. Yes the light could draw up to 6.5A+ when it’s hot but Hot Amps somehow doesn’t equal greater lumen. Anyhow, I finally figured out a method to disabled the head on the S12 from the body with no damages at all. I proceed to make a custom direct drive PCB board and run dual 26AWG Teflon wires to the LED in the shortest length possible. I also added more thermal paste than what the LED originally had for better heat sinking. The result is now 6.1A on orange IMR at cold start. The light is now noticeably brighter than before. Please beware that the LED in this S12 undergo a time consuming burning in process to acquire this amperage. Your S12 might not acquire this current flow with the exact same mod without burning in. I also built a 6A current regulated driver to try out with this light but it somehow only pulled 4.7A L. In conclusion, with all my attempts Direct Drive with good current flow path is still the way to beef up the S12! I also want to mention that by now I have modded more than 8 S12 and only 3 had Pure White tint. The other five has a greenish/yellish tint. The LED in this S12 for sale does have the ideal Pure White Tint. If you want massive output and runtime I think you will happy with the modded S12. The only reason I am selling it is because I have an identical mod but with a copper head ;-).
$90 $99 $110 $115 Custom 3D/4C Magliet modded by me. For this project I molded molten solder into the flashlight head/neck to create the heatsink. This method allow a large chunk of solder to form perfectly into the body of the flashlight for good heat transfer. I then mounted an XML-U2 Pure White Tint onto the heat sink with Arctic silver thermal adhesive. For light focusing I used a very large and deep smooth aluminum reflector that is 55mm wide and about 60mm deep. To drive the LED I added a 2 mode 4.2A current regulated driver that can take 2.8V-6V so the light can run on 3D or 4C. The result in possibly the BEST THROWING reflector maglite with a typical maglite head size. That’s right! It throws better than my 11A Varapower 2000 SST-90. The beam is beautiful too! The bodyand bezel is new. The tail cap is mint. The head only has a slight scratch on it. If you are a perfectionist I guess you can change the head too.

Took me a while to perfectly adjust the LED height from the reflector to focus a tight hotspot with almost no donut hole. This light of course throws much better than a TN11 or Scorpion V2. If you like a pocket massive output thrower this light is for you. The light has a smooth reflector with a very beautiful beam.
