I am interested in finding as much info as possible on lights that attempt to illuminate the road without compromising the nightvision of the people we share the road with.
-StVZO Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung (Road Traffic Licensing Regulations)
-Street legal German lights
-Lights with a cutoff that cast significant light just under the horizon and evenly distribute the remaining light onto the proximal road ahead and to the sides.

Although there is an active thread http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=214561 discussing possible DIY solutions, I hope to buy something this week to satisfy my immediate needs.
I was relieved to discover English instructions on how to power a Lumotec CYO with rechargeables, as I don't want to screw around with a dynamo. I think I have narrowed my choices down to the aforementioned Busch&Muller (BUMM) CYO or the Schmidt Edelux. The BUMM Big Bang is cool, but too expensive.
I have a couple Fenix TK11's on lockblocks that provide sufficient light off-road.
What are some other quality lights that conform to or approximate the StVZO standards?
A good source of info on the subject:

Thanks in advance!

A 'Cyo with batteries' is called IXON IQ or IXON IQ Speed.
Other candidates for battery power are 'Phillips LED bike light' or Dosun D1.

Thanks man. That Dosun looks very promising. I didn't realize the Ixon IQ speed used the same reflector...cool.
Are any of these "the ra clicky" of the bike light world? ie almost universally loved and recommended by most?

Oh yeah, I dont want to exclude dynamo lights if their specific design is better than the current crop of battery lights...I'll just struggle through building a power supply.
