Hello fellow flashlight fans. I have been searching for a 2 cell regulated LED flashlights with good throw and spill and haven't found any. I saw the River rock 2 cell light at target and after seeing its beam profile was disappointed. Are there any 1 or 3watt 2 cell cell lights out there.? I am very happy with my L1T and Nuwai X-3 but was wondering if there is anything similar but driven by C cells. I see that the Elektrolumes are C cell but un regulated . Any thing exist with 2 or maybe 3 cell that are regulated? Am interested in a light thats brighter than the X-3 and with longer run time . I get 1 hour 50 minutes wuth the Nuawi X-3.

It's not a 2 cell, but you'll probably find that the Streamlight Propoly 3C will fulfill your needs quite nicely. It's also fairly compact too, being about the same length as a 2 C-cell Mag light.

EDIT : You might also want to look into a MagLED in a 2or3C cell light. It doesn't have the regulation that you were looking for, but then in actual usage, you may find that you don't need it either. Another one to also consider might be the LEDBeam 3C. All of these should have run times in the 5-6 hour range before they hit the 50% mark.

Hmm, well, it's not fully regulated (has a boost circuit), but Lowes has a 2 C-Cell Lux III flashlight under the "Task Force" brand. Runs for about 2.5 hours and has decent output and throw, according to the FLR review here.

That's $125 for CSI-LX900-WW!!!!

How about SMJLED for about $10 + 2 C MAG?

Total, even if you just go out and buy it is around 25 , 30 and this is a tank. This may not be brighter than X3 (Have no idea what X3 is tho...... sorry I'm not familier with that!)
 
Thanks all .:) The drop in Ever LED looks like it might be the ticket. I assume it will work as well with a C cell vice D cell light. I already have a 4AA Streamlight 1 watt light and the 3 C poly version according to flashlight review is only a bit brighter But with better run time 6 hours plus. (decisions, decisions :sssh:)
Any more info on the SMJLED with a 2 c cell ? How does it compare with the EverLED . Wonder if it needs the Amps of a D cell light to get great output. The CSI LX 900 is a bit more than I want to pay , but WOW its interesting to know they exist.


The X-3 is the Nuwai X-3 . Right now the Nuwai and the 4 AA Streamlight LED are my favorites for checking out the back yard at night just wish they had a bit more sidespill.
 
What you want may be had, probably just not from where you want to get it. (Geeze, how cryptic is that, weedhopper?)

Check out this thread. I know you probably want a white light but that's just a detail in the build.

You can go to Wally world and get a 3 watt led maglite for ~ $35.00. If you already have a C or a D maglite you can then get the LED bulb for ~ $18.00
This is the best and cheapest solution.
 
Does it have to be C cell powered? Streamlight ProPolymer 3C Luxeon is good, but it weighs twice that of 4AA version. You won't get twice as much runtime compared to 4AA running on NiMH, so I suggest the 4AA if you don't absolutely have to use C cells.

fleshlite -- Haven't seen the LED maglite at the local wally world. Are they only availabe in supercenters? Has anyone used the 2 C led version any comments on it ?

that uses 3 C cells to drive a luxIII and has 3 stages of brightness... I have one of their luxV 3xCR123 lights and am very happy with it, however- with Nuwai there seems to be notable variations in quality from one model to the next...

They also have a 4C version- also with 3 light levels, and a luxV... which I am betting would be a real scortcher..

My gut tells me that both of those lights probably share great similarities to the lights reviews over on FLR here http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/nuwai_alx-352_alx-032.htm .... while those are CR123 versions- I'm betting that they use similar build quality, similar regulation circuitry, and similar output... the C versions of cource will have longer runtime..
 
I'm using a 2C mag LED. The throw is quite impressive. I would like to see a comparison to a 3D or a 3C.
 
My advice: Give the Mag-LED 2C a try. While not regulated, I don't think it matters much with the long runtime it provides. It is white and bright.

My previous favorite 2C LED (I like the 2c form factor) was the Dorcy 8LED light. It has a nice flood beam (a piece of clear contact paper on the lens cleans up any beam artifacts) but is not much of a thrower. It is more compact than the 2C MagLED and a good work/utility/walk light if you don't need much throw. If size is a factor, the Dorcy is great. If size is not a factor the 2C MagLED is superb. The modest Mag-LED 2C has amazing throw and superb spill. If you wanted more flood you could sputter the reflector and/or treat the lens to some clear contact paper.

My experience with the EverLED side emitter and Lambertain in a 2C was a bit of a dissapointment. One had a greenish cast, the other purple. I don't believe either was as bright as the magLED and the cost of the EverLED is double the MagLED drop-in. EverLED needs to drop the price and put a whiter emitter in their bulb (IMHO).

Pizzaman - Thanks for the info on the EverLED . Based on the Input the Maglite looks like it might do ... if only the local Wally world had it in stock I'd probably get it. Did stop by Lowes today and gave in and got the taskforce super 3 watt. ... Thanks Beakman.:sold:

First impression is good. :) Its got the kind of spill I wanted and sufficient throw to lite up my yard. The Flashlight review was also helpful in deciding. Maybe he'll soon have a review of the Maglite 2 c LED .
Now To get some hi capacity NiMH batteries

the last two are Mag 2C with a PR2 and with a 1W Lunaled dropin.
The PR2 is white and the Lunaled greenish.
