Removing the HA from an Arc LSH-P?

I've acquired an Arc LSH-P twisty and would like to remove the HA and go with bare aluminum. Is this a DIY project for the average Powernoodle, or should I ship it off to one of the modders? And which modder?

I think I could handle doing the actual removal of the HA with some elbow grease (hand sanding with increasingly finer grit paper?). Its the removal of the guts, lens and o-ring that would slow me down.

I think you'd be much better off to try a chemical solution, like lye (Red Devil drain cleaner). You're gonna go through lots of sandpaper otherwise, HA3 is tough stuff.

There's currently a thread around here somewhere discussing how to open up the LS but I can't seem to find it. That's funny, I was just reading it a few minutes ago. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
