Can someone tell me how to remove the on/off switch on a 3 D cell Maglite? The battery nearest the tail cap corroded and I had to cut the body open to get the battery out so I thought I would try to save the on/off switch. Any help would be appreciated.

If the batteries are stuck in there its not going to be easy, but it can be done.

First pull off the switch cover with some needle nose pliers or similar. Then stick an allen wrench ( its a T8 torx if you bought the light in the last year) in the hole till it goes all the way to the back and loosen the set screw all the way.

If you are lucky the switch will move down toward the cells just enough to allow you to remove the snap ring above the switch with a flat head screw driver now and take the whole assembly out the top.

Good luck.

The one I have works the same way. The one I have is a couple years old though. It has the rebel LED.

Thanks for answering. The one I have I got this past November at Walmart right before Black Friday. I tried the t7 and t8 torx screwdriver and the number 2 hex key. The battery is very hard to move. I got the 1st battery out and have tried oils and other things with no luck.

These were the original Duracell batteries that were included in package. I called Duracell assuming they would want me to return the light but they sent me a gift card to replace the light. I would give up if they asked me to resend it in but I feel I can remove it and have a good light with the right technique.
