This is a round-up of info about lanterns that use the square, spring terminal lantern battery.
Some lanterns come with an interchangeable battery holder that takes 4 'D' cells instead.

Adapter so you can use 4 x D cells instead:
  • BA4D-S-ND (Digikey; OEM = BatteryHolders)
  • BAP 7400021 Battery Adapter Pack (Humminbird)
  • 41-0805 4D Adapter (DorcyDirect)

Summary from rayovac datasheets: mAH @ 0.5A
  • 808 = 15.8, alkaline 4 x F cell (BatteryJunction)
  • 806 = 11.1, alkaline 4 x D cell
  • 6V-HDM = 8.6, heavy duty maximum
  • 6V-HD = 6.1, heavy duty
  • 6V-GP = 4.8, general purpose
Energizer:
  • 528 = 4 x F alkalines (screw terminal, discontinued)
  • 529 = 4 x D alkalines

There is an SLA version (5AH):
  • D1724 Sealed Lead Acid Battery Charger (UPG)
  • UB650S Sealed Lead Acid Battery-Lantern (UPG)
  • PS-650L UPS battery (Powersonic)
  • WKA6-5SP (Werker)

If you need a replacement bulb:
  • generic halogen: HPR36 (93L), HPR50 (85L, Rat Shack), HPR55 (48L); Bulbtown, etc.
  • 41-1697 (Dorcy halogen, 66L)
  • LZ13 (Lumilite Xenon, L = ?)
  • LMSA401 (M*g halogen, L = ?)
  • KPR103 (overdriven krypton 3D bulb)
  • 41-1644 (Dorcy LED, 40L, yes: polarity reversible )

Just for fun:
13 x 5mm LED lantern, instead of standard, deep reflector (Dorcy 41-1046
)

For the bulbs, higher Lumen ratings drains batts faster (no free lunch), and take the AH and L ratings with the usual grain of salt. I did not include the standard PR or Krypton bulbs. If there any errors, let me know I will correct them.
