Research about LED USB Light

Hi all,
I am doing some improvment with my usb light.Please give me your hand and make it better.
Questions
Do you have Laptop?
Do you use USB light?
If you have one, how you feel with the one you are using/used?
If you are going to buy a USB light, how will you choose?price/looking or light output?
Does usb light cost $9 fair?

If you do read this post please answer these questions.
It may help me to improve the product.

Try making an LED USB light with more than 1LED in it, most only have one and IMO a 3 to 5 LED light is nicer for reading than a single LED. I would guess many laptop USB light users use the light to see a pad to write stuff on or read paperwork and if you can imagine reading awhile with a single keychain LED light you should get the picture.

The cost sounds fine.

Adding the ability to stand not plugged in and use it as a light too.

How about also adding a small switch and adding a place inside the case for a super cap to make it usable without the computer. If done right, the the light might run for 5-10 minutes not plugged in. And charge up almost instantly. OR trickle charge a very small battery while being used so the light is usable while not plugged in again.

2 or 3 LEDs instead of just 1 is probably a better idea too I think. The amount of light generated from 12 inches above the keyboard should probably be able to light up the while keyboard.

In my experience, USB LED lights seem to have two common problems.

1: The keyboard is not completely illuminated.
2: For some as of yet unknown reason, unusually short LED lifetimes - sometimes just 100 hours or so to half intensity.

Im in the market for a nice USB light actually.

Only problem I see with yours, is it might not be enough flood.
Make sure you use leds with wide angles.
Or as others have said, use more than one led,
though that would completely change your design,

The $9 seems fair if it performs well, and lasts.

BTW, if you dont mind, could you tell me your source for the metal flexable cable?
Ive been wanting to get some for mods of my own.

I have a USB light and don't use it because I don't have enough USB ports. I could buy a USB hub for 10 bucks, but what I would rather have is a low cost AC powered multiple led,or single luxeon no lens/reflector for wide flood. Something like a LED Littlite, but brighter and not for $80 bucks!

My USB light covering the Keyboard very well with 1 LED.
It can provide 40+ Lux form 1 meter.<-- not really well tested but at less 30+

Well i have run testing my USB Light at less 100 hrs still very bright.
I have been testing China LED and Nichia LED.
The result is Nichia > China. Also those China LED may cast problem aganisting Nichia to marketing in UAS,JP,CAN etc.
So I have Nichia for my product. So it would lower light intensity so quick as i trust Nichia.

Well i am seeking new company to make it.
Before i find any i will keep using it.
the tube looks ok and enough to support the LED head.

Now i got problem with the LED head.
I can rotate it easily. Very major problem.
It can break the cable inside.
I have to fix it before marketing it. :/
I hate my worker, I hate them stupid T_T

oh yeah I am in China again...
I found out how to FIX it.Finally all problem fixed.
I will go for production tomorrow.:p
But i have to do test tomorrow too.
