So i'm going on a roadtrip to the East Coast (Newark, DE if anyone's interested)

I'm taking the following lights:

- Maglite with BB400 and NX01 for a "normal" light that runs on AAs.
- Mag 2C mod for long throw.
- EL Blaster 3P for long throw, runtime (24 hours /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif )
- Girlfriend's Solitaire

I was thinking of getting a spotlight, but didn't. Oh well.

So what do you think? Sufficient? I'm also carrying spare AAs and AAAs. I wish i still had my Dorcy AAA /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You may need a small, low output light like an ARC AAA, AA or an Infinity Ultra - comes in real handy to find the bathroom in the dark in unfamiliar places! Sure beats the solitaire.

I think you're fine. The MM/BB400 is good for pretty much everything. Just stick it in your pocket so you'll have it when you need it. A small light like an Arc AAA would be handy but it's not a necessity if you have a bigger light.

throw away your girlfriend's solitaire and get her an arc AAA /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif anyway the rest of your lights sound fine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You are doing a heck of a lot better than I was just about a year and a half ago. In those days going on a road trip meant making sure I had my cell phone with me. Lights, I think I had a cheapie promotional got free at a Hardware Store two celled "AA" Flashlight with me at the time as a car light.

The solitaire will make a nice dim light for reading maps and directions. I can't really think of a need for a spotlight.

Take your normal keychain and EDC light. Plus a LED headlamp in case you have to change a tire. Throw a big heavy light such as a 4D mag in the trunk, for use as a impact weapon if needed. Consider adding a signal strobe like the Inova 24/7 if traveling in a remote area. That should pretty much cover it.

We took a trip from Philadelphia PA to Punxsutawney PA to see the actual Groundhog Day last year (02/02/02). That was FUN!!!! I had the standard 3D Mag with me while I was riding shotgun in the RV, but I also had a pen with an LED built into the end for tracking our mileage and location on the map. VERY VERY handy. I picked it up at Eckerd's drug store for a few bucks. Well worth looking into.

Well, i'm done with the road trip - i really regretted not having my Dorcy. My shotgun was using the Mag for reading the map, and it was waaaay too bright. I also regretted not having the McFlood to see more of the map and have a more diffused light.

Now i'm definitely going to get a small LED light for the trip back - going to the local walmart to look for a Dorcy tomorrow. Let's hope i find one.

WHAT? A CPF member with no key-chain light? That's should be a given and not part of any list. But thanks for reminding me, I have to go fix my Dorcy, the little key-chain attachment fell off.
