Romisen RC-T5 or a SSC P7 for biking?

Which would be a better choice to use to commute to work on my bike in both day and night time?

I am considering a Romisen RC-T5, an SSC P7 type (MSC, Aurora, etc.).

I am under the vague impression that the P7s will have more flood, where the RC-T5 will have more throw, with a longer battery life.

Has anyone compared these two types of flashlights?

The RC-T5 does not throw well but it's beam is apparently well suited to biking particulary off road.

Keep in mind that the RC-T5 runs off 2x 18650s and therefore is very long.

NO. Bad suggestion from TONY_M. That would be cross-posting, which is expressly forbidden by Rule #7:

I can move the thread there for you, if you wish - let me know. But as the rule says, please do not post it twice in different places.

2x18650 is too long for biking unless you have a basket or something you can mount it to. The P7 lights tend to get really good reviews by people who use them for MTBing, though you will need a couple of spare batteries.

ohhh, thats a good question. Actually I use both on my bike at the same time. Out of my collection of 20 lights or so, those are indeed my two choices for biking! The p7 has great flood and is brighter than most moped headlights, but it dims after 20 minutes (if you notice those kind of things like me). The rct5 has a decent flood and more throw than you'll need, but its also longer and thicker than the p7 and all my other lights. I have a $2.00 cheapie and fenix bike light holder from DX. The rct5 won't fit in the fenix and has a very tight fit in the other one. If you're going to on a rough trail I wouldn't bring the rct5, but from my experience its been fine on smooth to bumpy asphalt and sidewalks with my cheaper holder.

If youre riding with decent lighting and street conditions, then go with the RC-t5. The hotspot will stand out more under streetlights than the P7 which kinda dissapears. The battery will also last much longer. If you bike for more than 40 min, don't mind stopping to change them, and have very low light conditions, then get the p7 since it really lights up a nice area in front of you in dark places.

I have a ultrafire c2 that i crammed a p7 with 16 mode driver in and it's a great bike light. On high, it will only run for an hour, but if it's dark, med is bright enough and lasts a few hours. I really like the beam as well. Last time we went camping, I went on a night ride with it and it felt like I had a car headlight.
