The Coach
Enlightened
Got my Jetbeam RRT-3 today, so here's a quick first impression.
It comes in the usual Jetbeam box with the warranty card, a couple of extra o-rings and an extra switch cover. The different levels are accessed by a ring on the head. The operation is very smooth.
The battery carrier is all metal and very sturdy. The tail screws off and the threads were a little gritty.
The head and tailcap:
As usual with Jetbeam lights, the glass and the reflector are spotless. This may seem like a no-brainer, but I have found that most chinese built lights are not as careful. The SST-50 is centered.
The switch and the plug for the pressure switch. The rubber cover for the pressure switch is a little annoying, but livable. The light won"t tail-stand with the plug in.
Of course, the obligatory in hand shot, it even looks big in my hand.
And finally a comparison shot with some friends. L to R, McGizmo Haiku, Surefire G2, Surefire C3, RRT-3, Jetbeam M2S (also with the SST-50) and an MJP SF-III.

This is a very well made light, a bit on the heavy side, but it is a large light. I won't be mounting it on my AR, unless I'm shooting down a well or into the bowels of Hell. All sections match and the spelling is spot on. One thing that I don't like is the ring position on the head. There is really nothing that can be done about it, but with my large hands I tend to grab it when screwing off the tailcap.
Overall, I like this light and I can't wait for it to get dark. Since I suck at it, there will be no beam shots. HTFU.
Enjoy. :twothumbs
