/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gifI tried to remove the emitter from its base only to break it by prying off the lense. Is there a safe procedure to removing the emitter from the base?

I usually unsolder the leads from the circuit board and then using two pairs of pliers bend the star. The emitter should just pop off by itself.

What unnerv said. (Unsolder the leads and bend the board)

The LuxIII's are even easier, you just have to flex the board and the emitter pops right off without having to put a bend in the board.

Do you still unsolder the leads from the circuit board for a Lux-III? Thanks

Nice little writeup, I'd more likely choose to buy the bare emmitter rather than a star and save myself the hassle. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Hallis: Sometimes you end up getting a star just because it is a great bin and the seller doesn't have it any other way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

XRunner: Yes, you still need to unsolder the LuxIII from the board.
