I had some questions on sandwich building:

When building a sandwich what are some basic guidelines for; voltage input, amperage, resistance?
I guess what I am asking is how do I determine what boards I am going to use?

Also how does building a cree sandwich differ from building a seoul sandwich?

How do you know when heat-sinking is necessary?

I was asking regardless of host. I guess the big question is how do I select a *driver* or the boards that are connected to the LED I guess not all applications require the use of a sandwich.
 
cree and ssc leds have a voltage of 3.3-3.6v all drivers will work. driver depends on modes wanted and battery input.
 
So, if I wanted to build a q5 mini mag powered by 2x14500's and if I wanted to build a p7 powered 4xD mag running on 4x32600's, and I just want hi-lo modes, what do I need to look for (other than Hi-Lo)? So Emitter has no effect on driver choice and driver has no effect on emitter output?

I see, I thought I would need something smaller :( . So was I correct in what I chose though? I'm still really new at this lol, how do i know when I have to wire/solder boards together?

The board that you chose is 15mm diameter, and you may be able to sand, or file it to be 14mm. The voltage is limited to 6V maximum, so using two Li-Ion cells is out. Two 16500 cells will give you 7.4V, while fresh off the charger may give you as much as 8.4V. For that particular board, it means :poof:

A SOB converter board from the Shoppe can handle up to 16V. It is a single level board, but will be a solid performer. There may be other options out there, but this one is a time tested recipe for a reliable light. (You can choose your output level for the SOB. The link is for a 750mA, but you can get anything from mild, to wild.)
 
Cool I'm looking at that.. so what about my other questions, Why do you only fill the sandwich half way with epoxy?

and how do you know when to heatsink?
 
OOO one more question, so the output on that sucka is 750mah, so can I hook 2 LiPo's on this guy with a total of 2500mah and it will convert it down to 750mah??

I know that the max input is 6v but I plan on running this on 2 alkalines for now.. maybe later 1 LiPo

Is there anything else that I need for this to work?? other than solder and all those small things.. Like any other large components?

O.K.

So after reading that, and disecting one my mini's, one more question...

Where do Sandwiches make there Negative connection at?? Is it the same place that the stock sink/float switch is? I know that the body provides the negative connection stock.
