So now I have a scout body on its way, I already had the plug in tailcap, with this tape switch....

So now I need a head for it. As it stands my only other surefire light is a G2 so I was kinda of thinking about staying with P60 or P61 bulbs but if there is a better way I can do that instead. I'm new to playing with my lights (not new to lights, I have a handfull) so any help I can get will be helpful.

I think that a "head" that uses the P60 bulb is a great choice.

You can pick from the P60, P61, P60L, and the LF D26.

But the main thing is, that the bulb is quickly replaced.

And your handhelds can be in the same system as your weapon lights. [Batteries, and bulbs]. The ultimate KISS system.

Malkoff M61+VME head.

Well, what's your goals? Runtime, brightness; throw, flood?

Malkoff modules are not the brightest throwers ever made, but they're not bad. The low-power modules will run for ages compared to other weaponlight-capable LEDs. The MC-E modules probably are the brightest flood modules made, though.

Edited to add: Let me know how that tapeswitch works for you. I've been looking into using that one - albeit with less serious-business projectile launchers for now - with some kind of high-current system, perhaps a P91. Please do us all a favor and let us know how you like it :)

I'm not too worried about run times. 10 or 20 minutes would be fine. I Just bought a 6P today and had a G2 already so I'm ok there but for clearing a house or night hunts a light mounted to my AR is good.

A Malkoff M60-MCE is 400+ lumens of retinaburn for 45 minutes. It'll be fine for roomsweeping, but for night hunts, you might consider also grabbing a M60 for the throw.

Not sure about Nailbender's modules, but they're considered pretty darn good around here, if not (yet?) so rock-solid as Malkoff products. Lumens Factory modules throw pretty well, but I don't know how rugged they are.

(Show-off!) :nana:

(nice guns, BTW)

:D

So after playing with my new 6PL tonight. I think I would be fine with a P61 or a P60L Ill be looking pretty close to the Malkoff stuff though, seems the folks around here love it.

The lowest rated Malkoff is about as bright as the P60L, but runs full-bore for 8 hours or so. There's runtime graphs of the P60L in the Surefire catalog. They have a little dropoff within a few minutes, and then pretty much tank around 2 hours.

Scoutlight's are awsome WL platforms. You'll still need a E-C adaptor of some kind to use a G2 or 6P head though. The pic you posted of SF's LU60A kit comes with the shock isolated head and SF's E-C adaptor. Without the adaptor you can only use E-series sized heads.

Since you want to use this as a WL, I would suggest usind a shock isolated head if you want to use incandecent bulbs. On a .223 you probally won't break the bulb from recoil right away.... but it wouldn't be good if the bulb died when you needed it most. With LED drop-ins you don't need the shock isolation

The SL on the right has the LU60A kit and the one on the left has a KL4 head on it. I have a lot of WL parts if you want to see a pic of a particular setup. There are so many different options the sky is the limit. You'll love the Scout light:twothumbs

Off topic...Great pic:naughty:... is the top AR a .308?

Is it just me or are there a few parts missing from your A1?

Nahh the top gun is a .223 but with any luck Ill have a .308 lower in the next couple weeks or so.

That A1 is an A2 dress in A1 Clothes and has everything BUT a barrel, I was hoping that Brown was going to have it here today but that didn't pan out. Its even got a young Manufacturing Bolt NM bolt carrier group, and a Rock River Trigger (Now wasn't in the picture) ok so Back on topic.....
My scout Did show up today and I'm pretty happy about that!!!

I think the LU60 is going to be the way I go unless I can find someone else that makes an E-C adapter. I saw one someplace that was pretty nice but they always seem to be out of stock on them.

I know this is the Incan Forum but +1 on the Malkoff Valiant VME head with a M60 or M61

I guess Ill be looking REALLY close at the Malkoff stuff. Thanks!!!!
My only problem with them is that I have a hard time as a newb understanding their web site.
