searching for a Durable headlamp

Hey guys and gals,I'm looking to buy a new headlamp.I currently use a princeton tec apex for work and its my second one so far.I like the brightness and features of the unit but its not durable enough.The two tabs on the side of the lamp housing have broken off of both lights so far and i've done everything from epoxy to hot glue to made new ears out of sheet metal and am sick of messing with it.I'm a HVAC guy and use the light daily.I like the high low and different light beams because it suits most all of the situations i find myself in.I was hoping to find something made out of aluminum but haven't been able to find anything i thing will be durable enough.Price really isn't an issue as long as the quality backs up the price.thanks allot! ---Dan

I put a lot of faith in Surefire products and their warranty. I would think that the Minimus would suit your criteria as it is tough, mostly aluminium and it is backed by one of the best guarantees in the business. Of course a lot of other people will suggest other brands and although I use the Minimus I have heard great things about Zebra Lights which are also made of aluminium.

Zebralight headlamps. you want crazy bright to super low... H600w, could see across an entire auditorium plenum, runs on 18650's
you want something fine for ceilings and install work but less reach, H501, runs on AA

either one here, just will not mess up, you rotate it to the spot you want it to be in, it will stay there no
matter how much you shake your noggin.

when I was pulling low voltage (I am certified fiber optic and low voltage installer, NO I do not tie off on HVAC :D)
I would have absolutely killed for an H600w if I knew about them...I don't even think they existed back then.

I also do HVAC. I used to usea 3X AAA Streamlight until I discovered ZebraLight. I started with an H50 for a couple years, then switched to the 501w. They have both stood up to everyday use. I have since switched to a H600. I also carry an SC60w cliped to my left front pocket. They both use 18650 cells which I carry a spare in the truck.
I much prefer a warm tint when tracing control wiring.

I've worn out several headbands for the H50/ H501 lights. You can order extras and sometimes if you ask Lillian real nice, she'll trow a couple in with another order placed.

that looks way to clunky to deal with in actual use, sweating inside a plenum on a hot day, carrying ladders,
fighting insulation dust and rat turds...just sliced a finger and now it is slippery....
running back and forth to the truck dodging over other contractors crap laid out everywhere....

which is why I, as well as others, are recommending zebralight. smallest, bestest, brightest (and tough) for working HVAC
and related small, confined, and also wide-open spaces inside buildings or new construction

Spark SD series are great work lights! Great beam, good runtimes, Durable! I use for work almost every day. Electrician. I'll try the Zebra H502 if it comes out.
