self defence green laser??

i saw a tv show about new law enforcement items, this one thing was about the size of a 3 d mag, but was actually a green laser, used to disorient people. i know i posted about this a while ago, but cant find it to see if any one replied. anyone know about this.

Low-power laser pointer with a simple optic to fan the beam out. Pulse it at an erratic and ever-changing rate so the eye is unable to compensate.

Pretty simple, really.

A proper 3- or 5-watt cyan Luxeon will do the job on a smaller scale and at closer range. (And be $100 cheaper.) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
