I just received an A2 from another CPF member. As it's my first non-crappy incandescent, I'm busy finding large dark places to light up at a distance. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
However, the lens was cracked in shipping. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif The packaging I specified wasn't quite sufficient.
How should I go about replacing the lens? I've thought up the following: 1) replace it myself, 2) trade+cash on CPF for an undamaged head, and 3) warranty it with SureFire.
(1) is the best for my usage. The crack doesn't affect light function, so I can replace the lens at my leisure without little to no time without a complete light. I need to locate a lens of proper diameter as well as pipe clamps to unscrew the bezel.
(2) is probably most convenient for me, assuming there are A2-WH heads available. I don't really have a feel for what parts are out there.
(3) is the worst idea. Free replacement would be fraudulent, and I would be without my light for a long time.
