SF MN60 producing smoke

Help Support Candle Power:

I've never heard of or seen a properly operating M4 or any SureFire LA produce smoke!

Better send the LA back to SF for inspection and maybe the turbohead too if its appearance has been changed as a result. Personally, I don't mind if a bulb blows once in a while as long as it doesn't damage or leave its trace on something as expensive as a turbohead.

Out of interest though, could you describe the state of the bulb and under what conditions the smoke becomes visible?

The bulb seems to be operating normally with nice light temperature etc etc except it has smoke circulating inside the turbohead. THe smoke is at the exterior of the glass envolpe and it fills up the internals of the turbohead...

The smoke is visible from this new bulb after 3-5minutes of operation and it still stays around the TH.

The smoke is not excessive, its just a mild amount of smoke

Sounds like something is on the lamp. You might try cleaning it with rubbing alchol and let it dry before placing back in.
Topper :huh2:
