L1 for most of the reasons stated. I prefer the knurling, the UI, the look and feel, and the size.
I'm a fan of both.Tha E1B has a nice smooth design which is nice in the pocket, but i find it could easily slip out of my hand and it being a tactical light the high comes on first.
For everyday use i like the low first.
The L1 on the other hand has that rugged military look, the UI is in my books is superior and 100% reliable. It's not too big not too small, mine is actually brighter than my E1B because i use a RCR123 in it.
When i'm paying $150 for a light $10 is not really a big difference for me.
Like i said i like both i find the beams pretty much the same ,it's just a matter of design for me.
Sorry - I'm of no help.has anyone had any problems running RCR's in their L1??? i've always been a bit hesitant about putting a RCR in any of my SF's except a two-cell head on a one cell body. ??? size15's care to comment?
H2Orower,
I like your photography.

- oh yeah, and L1 hands down. i have them all and i go for the L1. (with the E1B clip installed  )
I hate being tied or slaved to the charger, it's power supply leads, the fact that it needs to be plugged into a power socket for a length of time, and the fact that I have to wait for the batteries to recharge. Even though battery chargers and power supplies have shrunk and are pretty small, the whole kit needs to be carried around. I found I needed a dedicated recharging kit for my car, one for home and a third for on the move.Size15's what do you find so annoying about charging batteries? I just put them in the charger and leave it till the led turns green then i unplug it.
The charger does all the work.

I disliking having to take phone and laptop chargers around with me too.
It's just a pain and a hassle and I have the choice not to put myself through all of it when it comes to flashlights for what I consider the pretty small cost of SF123A batteries. Easy, simple, fast.
Obviously many people are very keen to use [aftermarket] rechargeable solutions to feed their flashlight usage needs. I make the choice not to take that route.
