SF one cell lights

L1 for most of the reasons stated. I prefer the knurling, the UI, the look and feel, and the size.

L1 for me also / Perfection

I even clip it to my Boston Red Sox baseball cap when working in shipping containers at night, makes a great headlamp

I'm a fan of both.Tha E1B has a nice smooth design which is nice in the pocket, but i find it could easily slip out of my hand and it being a tactical light the high comes on first.
For everyday use i like the low first.
The L1 on the other hand has that rugged military look, the UI is in my books is superior and 100% reliable. It's not too big not too small, mine is actually brighter than my E1B because i use a RCR123 in it.
When i'm paying $150 for a light $10 is not really a big difference for me.
Like i said i like both i find the beams pretty much the same ,it's just a matter of design for me.

has anyone had any problems running RCR's in their L1??? i've always been a bit hesitant about putting a RCR in any of my SF's except a two-cell head on a one cell body. ??? size15's care to comment?

- oh yeah, and L1 hands down. i have them all and i go for the L1. (with the E1B clip installed  )

As much as I love the brand... I have no interest in any light that doesn't accept RCR123 as well as Primary cell.:sigh: I already have too much invested in rechargable gear for me to want to go the other direction.

My preference/favorite Surefire single cell light (left to right).

Sorry - I'm of no help.
I don't care for rechargeable batteries - using them annoys me. Well actually what annoys me is having to recharge them.

H2Orower,
I like your photography.

E1L with two light settings. Have had my little eye on one for a while, like the low setting first, sometimes you just need a little light!

Don't be afraid to use RCR's in your Surefire's.
I use 2xRCR123 3V LiFePo4 cells in my E2DL
1x17670 cell in my L4
1XRCR123 3.7V cell in my L1
1xRCR123 3V cell in my E1B
They all work great, same as primaries with the
exception of runtime (except the L1,same as primaries)
i keep backup cells charged at all times.
This is guilt free lumens my friends, between all my lights i'm probably saving a good $500 a year using rechargables.
But what's more important to me is i'm not contributing to the billions of batteries that are disposed of each year.
Size15's what do you find so annoying about charging batteries? I just put them in the charger and leave it till the led turns green then i unplug it.
The charger does all the work.

I hate being tied or slaved to the charger, it's power supply leads, the fact that it needs to be plugged into a power socket for a length of time, and the fact that I have to wait for the batteries to recharge. Even though battery chargers and power supplies have shrunk and are pretty small, the whole kit needs to be carried around. I found I needed a dedicated recharging kit for my car, one for home and a third for on the move.
I disliking having to take phone and laptop chargers around with me too.
It's just a pain and a hassle and I have the choice not to put myself through all of it when it comes to flashlights for what I consider the pretty small cost of SF123A batteries. Easy, simple, fast.

Obviously many people are very keen to use [aftermarket] rechargeable solutions to feed their flashlight usage needs. I make the choice not to take that route.

Obviously, both sides of this fence have their points, and, as usual, middle ground is where wisdom lies: rechargeable set-ups for home/around the house/daily use, and primaries for travel, and other prolonged periods away from home, or when requiring reliability and/or longer runtimes. Whenever I get home I put down my light with primaries and pocket a rechargeable instead.

Fair enough,to each their own.

For the record i only have one charger for my cells and it stays home.I don't carry it around, that would be a pain.Instead i carry a spare set of charged cells with me.
Like i said for me it's guilt free lumens.
The amount of use my L4 gets i could go through a box (12) of Surefire batteries in about a month,in my neck of the woods (Canada) that's $33-$39 before taxes.
What's really turned me off from using throw away batteries was a video i saw that my son put together for a school projet about the environment.
A bulldozer pushing what looked like a small mountain of batteries into a landfill.
Anyways back onto topic,i have the E1B and L1 and i'm thinking of getting the E1L.
I like the design, kind of a scaled down version of the L1. What are your recommendations?

The E1L is a scaled down E2L. Comparing it to the E1B, you get a different clip, much more gripping ability, a reversed interface (low then high) and much longer runtimes. Although brightness is inferior, it is still more than up to most "non-tactical" uses. IMO, it's an excelent light!
