Just got off the phone with Bob at RMSK. What a fine and knowledgeable fellow he is.
It all started with a online chat about the Shastax I wanted but included a most interesting and educational tour of the entire Peak and Tektite lines which will surely be costing me a bunch of $$$, once I start can digest all that info.
I really appreciate how patient and helpful Bob was and I added an XPG pocket Shastax to an, existing, unshipped order for the price of a brass Eiger which seemed very fair to me especially since I never knew a pocket model existed.
If anyone else is interested Bob has some, very limited quantities, of several different Shastax XPG models in stock, although they are not listed on the site.

Just an FYI - It might depend on which brand of battery you have, but I need a tiny spacer to use an (unprotected) AW 10280.

You could use anything conductive, I suppose, but a small magnet works well (and, as a bonus, this can also help center a bare QTC - if you are using this in an older-style body tube).

So, is the ShastaX basically the same as the Shasta except it has a XPG instead of the 5mm LED? My brass Shasta (keychain body) from RMSK is running on a rechargeable NiMH and has fast become my new favorite pocket light. Hopefully, next week I'll place an order for the 17500 adapters and see if Bob has a ShastaX (brass??) with a pocket body. And, a Vesuvius of course. :clap:

The 3 led Shasta is a favorite of my as well. The runtime is amazing.
The Shasta X is almost 10 times as bright on an N cell, about 50 lumens, I'd guess and probably close to 200 lumens on a 10280.
It has a collimating lens like the El Capitan.
I don't know if I got the last pocket body, but Bob told me about a 2 headed brass he has in stock and there are some keyring bodies as well.
That WOW light sounds like a real winner.

I primarily run my ShastaX on NiMH N-cells and an aftermarket QTC - works great, puts out plenty of light (but doesn't get too hot).

@sassaquin - you could always fashion a plastic cap for one end, and just consider it a spare-cell holder .... :whistle:

Sassaquin, you might want to have a look at the Mckinely brass 7 led on the closeouts page. It takes a cr123 battery and is 12-15 lumens. I bought one because it's about twice as bright as the 3 led Shasta and a bargain at $22.50. It hasn't arrived yet and I don't know much about the beam or run time.

Curt has in the past made up Delrin caps in different sizes for this purpose - don't know what he may have in stock.

I unsure I've read everything correctly but it seems to me that the new Vesuvius 2 AA battery body will fit the Shastax head.
If this is true it will expand the scope of possibilities and utility for this formerly N cell only light.
