Single 18650 MTB light

please help me to choose the right light!
i will use it for general purpose and as an bike light.
it has to be

-small
-bright (would like to have an xp-g, maybe NW)
-enough spill
-not too expensive

i could by the quark 18650 body, but it wastes so much space and i think other 18650 lights are brighter aswell, right?

Currently, I use a Surefire 6P with an MC-E drop-in (running 1x 17670 cell) and a 6P with an XR-E drop-in for my bike lights. The MC-E provides the spill and about 100-150 feet of throw. The XR-E provides substantially more throw and substantially less spill. When I'm feeling lazy and only mount one light, I use the MC-E. I like to be able to light my path beyond 100-150 feet, hence using the XR-E, but it really isn't critical for the vast majority of my riding. On the other hand, the spill provided by the MC-E is very useful in virtually all riding situations. The throw of the XR-E, on the other hand, has limited usefulness.

In short, I would recommend an MC-E drop-in in the P60 host of your choice. A Solarforce L2 host and a DX MC-E 3 mode drop-in would set you back $35-$40 (plus the cost of cells), and provide suitable 18650 light for the trail or urban riding.

I'd recommend a Fenix TK11 (popular light into the MTB scene) or a Malkoff MD2 with M61 dropin.

Both are durable and built like tanks. The TK11 will have a narrower beam and a bit more throw than the Malkoff M61.

A P7 led sure puts out a nice beam... You could get an 18650 host, and a drop in from nailbender.

How are you guys mounting the lights to your bike?

I use a Nailbender Linger Special dual warm XPG in a
L2P on the bars via a Lockblock and a Nailbender SST50 in a bored C2
strapped to the headband of my modded Brunton L3 headlamp.
so 2 lights on the head and one on the bars.

the Linger is amazing for flood and the warm is better
for contrast with mud n roots.

I ride full on DH trails with big drops etc at night
with this set up- works great!

Now I just wish I had a P60 compatible headlamp/host

when riding tech trails the light on the head is WAYYYYY
more important than the one or yer bars.

I use a MG PLI MC-E (1x18650) on the front bars
It,s a very good light and not expensive imho, the color of mine is terrible (camo) :eek: but mostly you use it in the dark, so you won't see it :party:
MG lights are sold by Shiningbeam (have a look at MarketPlace), but for the moment they are all sold out and we are waiting and waiting and waiting for the new MG models to arrive:popcorn:

It's nice to have with any kind of riding.

I'll often wear a light mounted in a Fenix headband on the street, which allows me to easily read street signs and see my path ahead as I'm going around a curve or corner.
